How to Market Your Blog

You have set up your blog, you have posted well researched content and your blog looks cool. However, the only problem is that there are no visitors, and if you have there are probably only a few of them. Does this sound familiar to you? Long gone are the days that you could put together a blog or site throw it up on the web and instantly droves of people would fight tooth and nail to get at your content. Happy days. Today you got to work a little harder to get consistent traffic to your blog. Here are a few basic tips that you can begin to market your blog: Get a good domain name. You should have one already, if not, get one pronto and not any old name. The name is very important it represents you or your company therefore, take the time to get a good one. What I mean by a good one, is that it should be memorable and stick in people's minds. It should not be too long are complicated and should be easy to spell. Shorter web addresses make more impact on marketing and promotional materials and advertising. If you have a blog for a selected few that is fine however, if you are like most bloggers and you want to stretch your wings and reach as many people as possible then, you need to tell people about you and your blog exist. It is a crowded place out there in the blogosphere therefore, you need to shout to get yourself heard. There are many simple ways you can do this. For example, when sending emails include put blog address at the bottom of each email you can to do this by entering the details in the signature file. Think of every type of way you or your company communicate. This can include business cards, letter head paper, newsletters, posters and even invoices. You can also use traditional marketing advertising to promote and create awareness of your blog. This can involve printing the URL on promotional pens, baseball caps, T-shirts etc. If you have an advertising budget you can look at advertising in either local or national media to build blog brand awareness. This can include newspapers, magazines and radio. This can be done very cheaply or in certain situations it will not cost you anything at all. For example, local media such as town newsletters and media are always looking out for a news story or feature for the next print or spot. Build up good relations with these people and tell them about your blog and what you are trying to achieve. They should be more than happy to write up a feature in there next newsletter or radio spot. Click Here!
